Public Health
Preparedness Training
The Idaho
Department of Health and Welfare (IDHW) Health Preparedness Program (HPP) partnered with Idaho
State University Institute of Emergency Management (ISU-IEM) to create an online system for managing health
preparedness and first responder courses, trainings, and student transcripts for the state of Idaho. The system
is available for all Idahoans; however courses are geared towards public health personnel and first responders.
HPP and ISU-IEM currently manage the Idaho Preparedness Learning Management System (LMS).
The LMS is a secure website where public health, all hazards, and emergency response and preparedness courses are listed and recorded. IDHW, ISU-IEM, Idaho Bioterrorism Awareness and Preparedness Program (IBAPP), Idaho Bureau of Homeland Security (BHS), and the seven District Health Departments (DHDs) offer courses and trainings as classroom-based courses, webcasts, satellite broadcasts, i:Linc sessions, online modules, and exercises. Each registered user can view upcoming courses, register for courses, and follow progress on their personal training transcript. The system also has a library of archived courses, resources, and links related to public health and emergency preparedness and maintains an internal and external training calendar.
A listing of current courses offered by IDHW is found to the right. You do not need to be registered in the Idaho Preparedness LMS to participate in courses. However, if you are registered in the LMS and would like courses to appear on your transcript, please request participation by emailing READYidaho@dhw.idaho.gov and remember to check the master calendar at the Idaho Preparedness LMS for a listing of all course offerings at www.idahoprepares.com.
